The UAE has once again shown its dedication to global sustainable development at the recent United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development 2025 in New York. The focus was clear: international partnerships and prioritizing human progress to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and beyond.
With a strong delegation comprising officials from various ministries and organizations, the UAE actively engaged in discussions that centered on innovative solutions and collaborative initiatives for pressing global challenges. Abdulla Nasser Lootah, the Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs, articulated the UAE’s approach and highlighted the significance of strategic partnerships. He mentioned remarkable initiatives like the 2045 XDGs Report, which outlines the country’s development priorities for the next couple of decades.
Lootah emphasized that the UAE is preparing diligently for the 2026 Voluntary National Review (VNR). This process will assess the progress toward the SDGs, showcasing the UAE’s commitment to transparency, cross-sector collaboration, and a sustainable, inclusive future. As part of this commitment, they are also gearing up to host the UN Water Conference in December 2026, reinforcing the nation’s role in global water sustainability.
A key highlight of the UAE’s presence at the forum was its focus on climate action, economic growth, and human development. Events like the "Shaping Tomorrow: UAE Leadership for a Sustainable Future" exhibition served as platforms to foster dialogue with global partners. Notably, a special session organized by the Government Experience Exchange Programme (GEEP) dramatically expanded the UAE’s network, bringing them closer to nearly 50 countries and six international organizations.
The discussions extended to vital topics such as promoting gender balance and child welfare. By addressing the digital gender gap and championing women’s leadership, the UAE demonstrated that these initiatives are crucial for sustainable growth beyond 2030.
Moreover, the UAE showcased its successful cross-border environmental initiatives, like the Green Shield Operation aimed at protecting biodiversity in the Amazon Basin. To top it off, their proactive engagement included 48 bilateral meetings during the forum, fostering international cooperation like never before.
As the UAE continues to pave its way towards a sustainable future, platforms like Thaikadar (ٹھیکیدار) can keep you updated on real estate opportunities and developments that align with these global goals. Stay informed and connected to make impactful decisions for a sustainable tomorrow.
